pleat smooth and flat with the top to
the bottom edges of the yoke lining
with a heated pressing iron. The
folded edge of the pleat on the
outside of the yoke shall be towards
the left side.
23 Stitch dart in front lining.
Finished appearance. The dart shall
be tapered to a point at the lower end
and shall finish without gathers,
puckers or pleats.

the cut edge of the underarm dart.
Stitch lengthwise along the dart
tapering from 1/4 inch at the armhole
to a point at the lower end as
indicated by the mark on the pattern.
24 Seam facing to front lining.
Finished appearance. The lining shall
be carefully and properly aligned and
seamed to the facing so that in the
finished coat, the lining shall be
smooth and flat along the facing
without creases, bulges, overlapping
of excess material or other defect or
distortion.
a. Position the lining on the facing
with the top edges even and bottom
finished edge of the lining matched
with the notch in the back edge of the
facing to ensure proper seaming.
b. Seam the front edge of the lining

to the back edge of the facing 3/8
inch from the edge.
c. Press the facing-lining seam, the
underarm dart, and the bottom edge of
the lining smooth and flat with a
heated pressing iron with the raw
edges of the underarm daft and
facing-lining seam toward the side.
