k. Press the lapels smooth and
flat, straightening the edges and
working any fullness towards the
center of the lapel and removing
the fullness by shrinking.
l. Press the lapels, uniformly
creasing on the lapel breakline
from the gorge seam to
approximately 3 inches above the
top buttonhole. Then roll press
the lapel to the front edge of the
coat.
m. Press the collar on a collar
machine, creasing on the breakline
and shaping to obtain the proper
contour while pressing.
n. Press lower edge of coat
smooth, flat and even.
o. Remove all wrinkles and
impressions from under the lapels,
collar, shoulder straps and pocket
flaps. Press lining throughout,
removing all wrinkles and creases.
Press the front and yoke lining
pleats smooth and flat. Remove
all gloss marks.

Mark for buttons.

a. Mark the right front for the
location of three 40-line insignia
buttons and one 34-line sewing
hole button to properly engage
with the buttonholes in the left
front.
b. Mark each shoulder for the
location of one 27-line insignia
button to properly engage with the
buttonhole in the shoulder straps
in order that the straps shall lie
smooth and flat without twisting
or bulging on the finished coat.
c. Mark the sword slit patch for
the location of one 22-line sewing
hole button to properly engage
with buttonhole in tab.
