3.3.19 Vinyl piping. The white vinyl cord for piping the upper
edge of the collar shall be tubular, with 7/16 inch-wide welt and
serrated edges.
3.3.20 Sleeve ornamentation. The sleeve ornamentation for the
coat shall conform to type III of MIL-DTL-82194.
3.3.21 Collar gold lace. The gold lace for the collar shall
conform to type II, class 1, of style A of MIL-L-17507.
3.4. Design. The coat shall be the U.S. Marine Corps design
shown on Figures 1 through 13, a seven-button, single breasted,
semiform-fitting, fully lined coat with 14 gold plated buttons on
the right front and seven buttons on the left front and seven
rows of gold braid on the upper fronts; skirt type lower body
parts with waist darts; a waist seam, a three piece back with six
gold plated buttons on the ornamental patch at the center back;
ornamental sleeve piece (sleeve piece normally provided by
customer) with three gold plated buttons; a standup collar with
gold braid, hook and eye closure and metal collar eyelets. The
front and bottom edges of coat and back ornamental pieces shall
be piped with the applicable piping for each class coat.
3.5. Patterns. Standard patterns will be furnished to the
contractor by the Government. The standard patterns shall not be
altered in any way and shall be used only as a guide for cutting
the contractor's working patterns. The contractor's working
patterns shall be identical to the standard pattern. The
standard patterns shall provide 3/4 inch allowance for joining
side seams and for seams joining skirt to center back; and 3/8
inch allowance for all other seams, except as otherwise specified
in Table I. Standard patterns show size and are marked and
notched for proper cutting, placement and assembly of component
parts.
3.5.1 List of pattern parts. Coats shall be cut from the
specified materials in accordance with the pattern parts as
follows:
