1/ When making the above repairs, the ends of the stitching are not required to be
backstitched.
Type 502, 503 and 401 stitching. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there
will be no loose or excessively tight stitching. All repairs shall be in accordance with 3.5.1.1.l,
a and b.
3.5.1.3 Bartacking. Bartacks shall be 1/2 ± 1/16 inch long and 1/8 ± 1/32 inch wide and shall
contain 28 stitches. Bartacks shall be free from thread breaks or loose stitching.
3.5.2 Manufacturing operations requirements. The poncho liner shall be made in accordance
with all operations listed in table I. The contractor is not required to follow the exact sequence
of operations.
