The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers the requirements for the man's wool sweater intended for use by male Navy personnel as part of the utility uniform.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The sweater shall be one type and color in the following sizes:

3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Description. The sweater shall be a pullover style; with or without side seams; a one- piece mock-turtle neck (crew) collarette; rib knit skirt; and set-in long sleeves with rib knit cuffs. The collarette may be tubular or with one seam at the left shoulder. The shoulder seams shall be reinforced with a black, 3/16 inch cotton tape. The skirt and cuffs shall be an integral part of the body sleeves (not seamed or looped). The color of the sweater shall be Navy Blue shade 3346.
The skirt and cuff shall finish not less than 3-1/4 inch nor more than 3-3/4 inches in height (course direction). The collarette shall not finish not less than 2 inches nor more than 2-1/2 inches in height (course direction) (see Figure 1).
