Fly and zipper. The right fly lining shall be the same fabric as the waistband curtain, and shall be sewn to the left fly below the zipper. The zipper shall be a heavy metal memory lock zipper with a brass bottom stop, and shall be bartacked at the bottom through the zipper tape. There shall be a french fly closure made from the trouser fabric on the inside of the right fly.
Trouser stripes. The trousers shall have colored braid sewn on top of the outside seam from the bottom of the front pocket opening to the bottom of the trouser leg. The braid shall be 1/2 + 1/16 inch wide, blue (A.H. Rice #2880685 or equal), or 1 + 1/16 inch wide, gold (A.H. Rice #4620107-6 or equal), as specified.
Workmanship. The trousers shall be free from any defects such as holes, tears, misweaves, spots, uneven dyeing, loose or skipped stitches, etc., that would affect appearance or serviceability. The trousers shall be seamed with matching polyester thread with all exposed inside seam edges to be serged. The seat seam shall be stitched with a tandem needle seat seaming machine. The trousers shall be pressed completely with the side seams and inseams pressed open.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable. The trousers shall be labeled in accordance with the Rules and Regulations under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. The trousers shall be labeled in accordance with the Trade Regulation Rule concerning Care Labeling of Textile Wearing Apparel.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The items shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as specified in the contractor order.
Notes: For men’s trousers, purchasers should specify the waist size, the trouser braid color, and whether finished or unfinished bottoms are required. If finished bottoms are required, the inseam length must be specified. For women’s trousers, purchasers should specify the size and the trouser braid color.
